A fleet of mobile systems require single-phase 125/250V Shore Power when deployed, but most typical sites have only three-phase, 208/120V power available from Military Load Centers and\or Generator Sets. This situation not only presents the issues surrounding mixing Military Standards with Industry Standards, but also with efficiently spreading single-phase loads from a three-phase power source. Additionally, the system must be light-weight, easily deployed, and safe.
Chew Engineering Designed and Developed a Three-Phase Shore Power Distribution System that interfaces with standard 100 Amp, 208/120V Military Load Centers and Generator Connections and protects and distributes to single-phase shore power loads. The system is composed of a 100A Three-Phase Shore Power Distribution Box [CE-100A-DBOX-001], 100A Three-Phase Power Distribution Box with 3Ø\1Ø Switch [CE-110A-DBOX-002], various shore power cables, and three 50A Unit Shore Power Boxes [CE-50A-UBOX-001].
The 100A Three-Phase Distribution Box is equipped with a Standard 100A 208/120V Military Connector Inlet which allows the system to interface with standard military cables. Additionally, this input is directly connected with a matching 100A 208/120V Military Connector Receptacle to allow the system to be place in-line with other site loads. The three-phase power is split into three separate phases (A-B, B-C, C-A) through 50 Amp, two-pole branch circuit Breakers. These breakers protect and feed three Industry-Standard 125/250V California Style shore power receptacles. These receptacles are 3-pole, 4-wire and include phase-to-phase voltage, system neutral, and system ground.
Cables with locking-connectors lead out from these output receptacles across the site to feed three 50A Unit Shore Power Boxes, located at the system elements. Each of these Unit boxes distributes the phase-to-phase voltage through 50 Amp, two-pole branch circuit breakers, and along with neutral and ground, provides the power to two Industry-Standard 125/250V California Style shore power receptacles. The Unit Boxes also include a 30 Amp, circuit breaker protected, single-phase-to-ground Industry Standard 125V Twist-lock shore power receptacle as well as a 20 Amp, circuit breaker protected, single-phase-to-ground GFCI duplex outlet for tools and other temporary power needs.
All boxes are Aluminum, Powder-coated NEMA 3R with Powder-Coated, Stack-able Cages, allowing the system to be easily stowed for transportation. All receptacles feature protective caps and all cables are equipped with weather-proof boots. Each element of the system is UL Listed and labeled for quick and easy deployment.
A team of Engineers and Technicians located around the world providing support and maintenance of important, custom equipment are hindered by the sheer volume of data and documentation of the system. With tens of thousands of drawings and documents, the team struggles to provide the necessary information to its customers in a timely manner. Compounding the problem, very tight security measures require the information to pass though networking and staffing bottlenecks.
Chew Engineering designs a secure, and easy to use Digital Library Application that contains all of the required technical information. This information is indexed and searchable and organized by type. Data requiring licensed software in converted into more open-source formats. Revision control and updates are maintained by Chew Engineering and delivered to the customer through secure digital and physical means.
In order to assist in Part Number Identification, Chew Engineering utilized the Development Models to create interactive 3D Multimedia with user controlled manipulation and exploding Illustrated Parts. The user can manipulate the 3D image by orbit, pan, and zoom and highlight the required part to view the customer's internal part number. The custom code searches through the drawings to report relevant data.
Chew Engineering also developed an advanced, generation-specific troubleshooting section for all generated alarms that is included in the Data Library. The user simple clicks on, or searches for the alarm and the software provides a detailed, step-by-step troubleshooting guide. Any drawings referenced in the guide are digitally linked to the source document. Also, additional information regarding the alarm, such as arming\disarming behaviors and\or resetting requirements are displayed.
